Enterprise-wide corporate green practices are showing up again and again in the leading companies favoring sustainability. The top three of six action areas as shown by Aberdeen Research include these practices:
1. Adopt an enterprise wide policy of green sourcing and procurement
2. Institute eco-friendly mandates for waste management
3. Institute eco-friendly mandates around packaging
Aligning with green responsible mandates is a slow process. First, the culture must incorporate green responsible mandates. This is reflected in reusable bags showing up in so many more areas than the place they were first used by the general population, in the check out line at the grocery store. For example, the green practice of the jeweler who uses recycled packaging. Home composting is another example of a more widespread green thoughfulness.
The evidence shows that in our culture, “green is good” is much more than a theory. It is a trickle UP practice.
Today, Green Business rewards employess with earth friendly gifts, reflecting their employees’ practices. They see that purchasing a green gift or using high-quality, green promotional gifts moves an eco-friendly cultural ideaology forward, a subtle yet powerful way that at one time both expresses and influences an awareness of What IS Green.
